Southern Style Fish Sandwich with Spicy Tartare

Cook Time: under 10 minutes

Create a fish sandwich that stands out in a crowd! Our ‘Southern Style’ fish sandwich is a great menu addition ideal for busy cafes and venues that cater for dine in and take away patrons. Stuff soft buns with our Southern Fried Barramundi Burger, melted cheese and sweet-and-sour cucumber pickle for a fast to serve show stopper! Serve in under 7 minutes. This fish sandwich is labour light but offers a great GP.

For our Southern Style fish sandwich we use Pacific West’s Southern Fried Barramundi Burger. A natural Barramundi fillet with a coating of original Southern herbs and spices. This crunchy, out of the fryer fish fillet is fully prepped for you.

INGREDIENTS

  • American mustard 2 tsp
  • caster sugar ½ tsp
  • cucumber ½, halved lengthways and seeds scraped out
  • Little Gem lettuce, leaves separated
  • monterey jack or emmental cheese slices
  • Pacific West Southern Fried Barramundi Burger
  • red onion ½ small, finely sliced
  • soft buns 4, split and toasted
  • Tabasco a few dashes
  • tartare sauce 4 tbsp
  • white wine vinegar 2 tsp

INSTRUCTIONS

For our Southern Style fish sandwich with spicy tartare

Chop the cucumber into very thin slices and put in a bowl with the onion, sugar and vinegar. Season and toss. Mix together the tartare sauce, mustard and Tabasco. Cook the fish then cut in half. Top with a cheese slice and place in the oven for a minute or so until melted. To assemble the sandwiches, spread the bun bottoms with a little spicy tartare, add a couple of lettuce leaves, and some of the drained cucumber and onion, then top with a piece of fish, more sauce and the bun tops.

Deep fry 180C 4-5 minutes
